About me

Last day of grade school!

Although it is a day that almost everyone goes through, the last day of high school always seems surreal. Like, you want to believe or still think that the following week will be the same routine of waking up and going to school and learning.

It's a very bi polar sort of day too. You feel so happy because you're finally finished with one chapter of your life and moving on to a new and exciting  one. But you also feel sad because, you're becoming older, you will have bigger responsibilities, and you will leave behind or not see many friends and acquaintances possibly ever again. Teachers that did an awesome job at teaching and showed they really cared, you miss those too. But, moving on to greater and better things is what we strive for, and completing this part of the process is just part of it all. I'm glad that I will have experienced all this to the last day of High school. Up next, I will move on to Colorado Mesa and create great memories there too! :)

Christians and tattoos...

Growing up, I was always taught that smoking, having pre-marital sex, drinking, and tattoos were bad. Yes, I've had a very conservative up-bringing, however, I've come to disagree with my mother on one thing. Tattoos. She always tried to make her point in scripture ( I believe it's Corinthians).

However, several parts of the bible say to eat and drink to glorify God, and that women shouldn't wear gold earrings and jewelery and what not, yet we do it all the time. I know of many christian's who they themselves have tattoos. So what's the big deal?

Yes, I do believe that there is such thing as too many tattoos, and that some tattoos look very unattractive, but I don't condemn them. Some tattoos can look very attractive on a person, depending on how good the artist is. How much do you think is too much concerning tattoos?

Avocado basil pesto Sandwich

I know it may sound like a weird combo, but I tried this new basil, avocado, and tomato sandwich combo that was very delicious, and health as well

The recipe is quite simple really. You just toast two slice of multi-grain toast and add basil pesto on one slice  as if it were mayo. Then you just add a fourth of an avocado (sliced or mashed, however you'd like) and tomato slices. It was super quick and easy, with no mess whatsoever. It has become my go to snack just because it's so dang good! You can also add cheese if you'd like, but I choose to go with out it since I love avocado and it over powers the avocado taste a bit. Let me know what you guys think!

Relationships in college? Some would agree that they are okay and  possibly even beneficial. Many on the other side would agree that relationships in college are not a good idea. I wouldn't entirely be able to say much based on the fact that I have no clue what It'd be like. However, I do have some insight that has been shared by several of my college friends. Take in mind that I'm primarily talking about relationships entering college (i.e freshman year).

The number one reason many college students decide to stay single is because they want to mingle with whom ever they want. Freshman year of college, many 18 year olds are coming together and getting to know so many knew faces and flirting with pretty much everyone. Being in a relationship limits this opportunity of expanding your circle of friends. Although many would argue that they would never limit their significant other in such a way, being surrounded by a large sum of people of the opposite sex can create problems in a relationship during college.

Another reason is that focusing on school, your relationship, and friends seems like alot to be able to handle. Many students can say that trying to balance school and a relationship seemed almost impossible. However, there are those super humans who seem to handle everything just fine. Unless you are that person, maybe a relationship during college seems like a bad idea.

Most importantly, a relationship during college pretty much ties you down from participating in a good freshman year of college experience. You feel tied down and constantly worry about keeping your boyfriend/girlfriend happy. Plus, I feel freshman year is not a year to be serious. I feel its a year to have fun. There is much more time in life to start getting serious such as in relationships.

Although relationships in college don't seem like a good idea to me, it is possible that a relationship could be just the opposite. It just depends on the person and what they prefer.

So you've been exercising right? You've been working out hard, but you see no results... See, the number one mistake most people make when they begin exercising is expecting results right away. My family and I have been working out every morning at 6 in the a.m. for a month and a half now. Not very long right? My sister became upset because she has seen no change in her body, which began to discourage her.

First of all, even if you see no change, we should all be exercising anyways, change or no change. Second of all, sometimes your diet can completely overtake your exercise if you aren't watching what you eat. Obviously you shouldn't become paranoid about what you eat, but just don't eat sweets or fat food. I may not have been doing this for very long at all but I have been doing plenty of research, and honestly, its just common sense.
Also, looks can be very deceiving when it comes to exercising and slimming down. I have seen no physical change in my body. However, my measurements from April 1st to now say something very different. In April, my waist was 30'' and is now currently 28'', which is why I told my sister to start measuring herself. To me, this is a much more reliable way of measuring change in your body rather than a scale or pictures.
Eventually there will be a time when the scale and pictures will show a difference, but for now focus on your measurements and especially on endurance or strength increases which are much more important, and the best indicators that your body really is improving.
The only way you really will see changes in your body is if you stop expecting to see changes in your body and just exercise. Since you're exercising and eating right, your body has no choice but to improve, so just give it time :)

Flowers are blooming, the weather is changing, and the sun is finally shining! May is possibly the best month of all. Not too hot, not too cold. Which  makes great weather for the many celebrations that May holds. May is the month that many students look forward to. Last day of school, college students are moving out of dorms and back home, and summer is pretty much here. It's also a month of great changes. Many students are moving into new chapters of their lives and graduating highschool or college and moving on to new jobs and their new lives. It's pretty amazing. Also, if you notice, there are allot of birthdays, baby showers, weddings, graduation parties/ceremonies during May. I guess the reason I like may so much is its a month of celebration, happiness, and changes which pretty much makes it the best month of all :) What's your favorite month and why?
